                  How Group Coaching Works

Group coaching provides structure, and the guidance and support you need in order to be successful. The beauty of group coaching is that as you listen to others' similiar experiences and struggles, you will see yourself in them. Because of this, the group format can foster and accelerate new learning, insight, and growth. 

Note: You will not be forced to speak and participate. You are encouraged to do so, but if you just want to listen that's ok too. Nor, do you even need to attend the live calls. You can get the assignments and recordings the next morning. The most important thing is that you're willing to put the assignments into practice. 

The group will meet for a total of 6 sessions starting January 16th, 2019 meeting every other week over a period of 3 months.  Each session is a 30-45 minute live coaching call with me.  

I am using teleconferencing that is free to you as long as you have free long distance. It also includes free international local call in numbers for most major countries. Canada isn't included. If you're country isn't included, you can still get the call recordings and assignments emailed to you the next day.

You will have daily access to a private Facebook group as well where you will receive daily support and inspiration. 


During each call, we will go over the previous week's assignment and then turn over the session to the group to answer questions, brainstorm, and coach individual participants.

I will then introduce the chosen topic and talk for about 30 mins. For purposes of anonymity, during coaching calls, group members will be addressed by first name only. Along with each session, you will receive customized handouts and assignments designed by me. Each week, you will receive a new assignment and handouts. 


As a special bonus, you will receive 2 private 30 minute individual coaching session ($195 value) with me. You can use this time during the 12 week sessions or several weeks afterwards, so that you can receive my personal support. 

During this private time, we will work on any areas that are holding you back from being successful losing weight or causing you to eat emotionally. You will come away with personalized strategies to help you move forward.

How Much Time is Required to Participate in  The How You do Food is How You do Life Program?®


You will be spending 30-45 minutes a week on the calls and another half hour - 1 hour each week reading and applying the materials. Your life is your actual practice, so you will be applying what you learn during the course of your regular routine.  Of course, you may be creating new habits or routines, so you may want to allow time for these.   The calls will be recorded, so if you miss a session, or want to listen to them again, they are yours to keep.

Module 1
Overcoming Eating 

In this module you will learn why diets fail and ultimately make you fatter. You will learn the foundational skills for overcoming overeating. We will explore how to find your motivation and look at the reasons that tend to derail that motivation. 

Module 1 Overview

  • Discover your eating triggers and learn strategies to overcome them. 
  • Learn to identify what your real needs are. 
  • Learn the role of pleasure in your life and find simple and nourishing ways to bring more joy and pleasure back into your life. 
  • Learn about secondary gains and how they are sabotaging your weight loss success.
  • Learn how to pause and ride out urges to binge and overeat so that you feel more in control of your eating.
  • Work with the Hunger Scale in order to key into feelings of hunger and satiety. 

Module 2
 The Inner Critic, Thinking Distortions, and Self-Sabotage

This module explores the self-limiting thinking patterns that lead to self-sabotage and overeating. 

  • Discover how your explanatory style can make or break your success. 
  • Learn to inquire into the truth of the excuses and stories you use that keep you stuck. 
  • Discover how resistance plays out in your journey and what to do to overcome it.
  • Learn how to deal with self-sabotage and that pesky inner critic that keeps you from moving forward. 

Module 3
Exploring Mindfulness

This module explores the different aspects of mindfulness, including how to eat mindfully and how to tune in to your body's true wants and needs. You will learn mindfulness meditation and how to connect with your body and inner stillness.

  • Learn how to eat mindfully and truly savor your food.
  • Learn to let go of food rules and transform your relationship with food. 
  • Learn mindfulness meditation and how to connect with your breath and body in order to become more present and grounded. 
     

Module 4 
The Art of Self-Care

In this module, you will learn the importance of self-care and how to create a self-care routine that can be fit into the busiest of schedules. You will also learn how to create a structure for your success to happen.

You will also learn how to develop the witness self: the thinker of your thoughts, so that you can become a witness to your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This allows you to make better choices in the moment.

  • Discover the difference between a feeling and an emotion. 
  • Learn how to identify your emotions and how to process them. 
  • Learn how the brain processes emotions and discover how to calm the brain down instantly. 
  • Develop the silent witness or observer self, so that you can become more aware of your thoughts and feelings, become less reactive, and make better choices for yourself in the moment.
